Oats Idli is becoming a routine menu these days…I am fond of oats and luv to try different varieties in it.
It tastes more like rava idly.
I use saffola oats and it works well, even quaker oats is good.

Ingredients of Oats idlli
- You need 2 cups of oats (blend into powder).
- You need half of cup sooji.
- You need half of cup vermicelli.
- Prepare 2 tbsp of chana dal.
- Prepare 2 tbsp of urad dal.
- You need 1 tsp of mustard seeds.
- Prepare 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
- You need 1 pinch of Hing.
- Prepare of ginger chopped (1/2) inch4.
- Prepare of curry leaves 9-10.
- Prepare 2 tsp of lemon juice.
- Prepare of grated carrot 1/2 cup (any veggie can u take).
- Prepare 2 cups of water.
- Prepare 4 tbsp of oil.
- Prepare of chasew nuts for garnishing.
- You need of salt for taste.
Oats Idli is perfect for breakfast and one of the tasty and healthy Indian oats breakfast recipe. To make this Instant Oats Idli, you don't need to ferment the batter. Oats Idli, a quick and easy to prepare nutritious breakfast recipe, has similar taste and soft and spongy texture of instant rava idli. However, it is even more healthier as it also uses nutritious oats in addition.
Oats idlli instructions
- Heat pan in low flame and roast 2 cup oats for 5 min or till it turns light brown cool and grind to fine powder. Now in a pan heat 2 tbsp of ghee and then add 2 tbsp of Urad dal, 2tbsp of chana dal, 1tsp of jeera, 1tsp of mustard seed and some curry leaves.
- Now after the the mixer splutter add 1/2 cup sooji/rawa and fry till sooji becomes light brown in color into it add a pinch of Hing and chopped ginger (half inch).
- Fry well for 5 mins now add powder oats and half cup of vermicelli and 1 tbsp of oil mix well and fry for another 5 min..
- Off the gas transfer it to a mixing bowl and cool. After cooling add water 26 cups(batter should not be very thin). Add grated carrot,chopped corriander leaves, salt(as per taste). (you can take any vegetable of your choice) mix well and keep aside..
- Now add lemon juice 2 tsp. mix the batter well, Now take an idlli Steamer/ pressure cooker and brush the idlli moulds with ghee. Take a pressure cooker add 2 cups of water.put the batter into the moulds, above each batter put cashewnut and place the moulds rack inside the cooker..
- Low the flame remove the whistle of the cooker and cook the idllis for 8-10 min. Then take it out frm the cooker cool and remove idllis with the help of knife or spoon. and enjoy awesome and healthy oats idllis with your favourite chutney or sambar..
These oats idli though are made from oats and semolina and filled with veggies like carrots, green peas. I also added some spices to these idlis just for that extra kick.
